Sailing lessons

Click here to download the registration form for sailing lessons (PDF format; at this time only available in Dutch).

BSSA follows the line of the CWO (Centrum Watersport Opleidingen).
Given the circumstances on Bonaire, "heavier" diplomas are awarded to the participants. We don’t sail in an inland sheltered environment, but usually on open water where
the wind is blowing harder than in the Netherlands.

Juniors

We award BSSA Youth diplomas I, II and III. These diplomas can be obtained by juniors
(up to 15 years old) in both the Optimist as the Splash and Sunfish.
These lessons are given on weekdays after school time.
A course for a diploma costs $ 175,-, including the sailing exam, excluding lesson books. Lessons are given by an experienced instructor in groups of 4 to 6 children.

A course consists of 16 lessons of an hour and a half.

Juniors may also directly go for the diplomas Sword boat.

Seniors

Seniors may also follow the CWO-oriented courses and graduate for the diplomas Sword boat I, II or III.  These lessons in principle will be given in a group of 4 to 6 people on Saturday. A course consists of 10 lessons of 2 hours and costs $ 175,- as well.

Of course lessons can be given merely to control sailing with a boat independently
in order to become a sailing member of our sailing club.

Private lessons are also possible and costs for local people $ 30,- per hour,
for "tourists" $ 50,- per hour.
